The Story of Laufey
Laufey Lín Jónsdóttir, an Icelandic-chinese singer songwriter or also known as her mononym ‘Laufey’ was born on 23rd April 1999. She achieved prominence in the early 2020s for her success in upcoming modern jazz artist, with critics noting that her jazz-inflected songs have received considerable success for a genre that has largely declined as time pass by. The singer referenced the influences for her song by classic jazz artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Chet Baker. I’ve been a jazz music lover for a long time, coming across her short video singing ‘On the Sunny Side of the Street’ I fell in love with her fairytale like music albums. In addition to that, her mellow Jazz Vibrato brings a sense of nostalgia that you can only receive from classic old songs.
